Everything you need to know about the new Ferrari Roma

The Ferrari Roma is a new V8-powered GT car from the iconic Italian brand, marking the beginning of a new era for the company.

The car's technical layout and design represent a departure from Ferrari's past models, and it is considered a step into the digital era for the brand. The Roma's chassis is made from a combination of aluminum and high-strength steel, supporting a 2+2 cabin. The car is powered by Ferrari's award-winning 3.9-liter V8 engine, which is similar to the one used in its mid-engine models like the 488 Pista Spider but is tuned for a more relaxed driving experience to fit its Grand Touring capabilities.

Actually, the Ferrari Roma boasts an impressive peak power of 620hp and peak torque of 760nm, making it "feel" fast rather than just appear fast. Despite being a turbocharged unit without any hybrid elements, the engine is still cutting-edge in engineering terms and enables the Roma to reach 62mph in just 3.4 seconds. This acceleration is further assisted by a dual-clutch gearbox and an advanced electronically-controlled limited-slip differential. While speed is important, the Roma also prioritizes luxury and design in its all-new cabin. Traditional buttons and switches have been replaced with sleek touch-sensitive controls and touchscreen interfaces. The central rev counter in the driver display remains, but it is now digital and can be swapped for a full-width map or a more race-car-like view for better visibility.

Additionally, a new tablet-like touchscreen has been added to the symmetrical dash design, covered in leather and metal detailing. But truly, the new Ferrari Roma stands out for its sleek exterior design, created by the brand's in-house studio led by Flavio Manzoni. The two-plus-two GT body style provides a sophisticated foundation for the designers to work with, and the team at Ferrari has taken full advantage of this with Roma's distinctive design. Flowing bodywork without many lines or creases evokes the design of Ferrari's GT models from the 1960s and 70s. The subtle thin LED lighting, front and rear, and the technical elements such as the front intakes or rear diffuser are all in black or carbon fiber surround, allowing the bodywork to remain as unadorned as possible.

An exception to the unadorned bodywork is the front grille, which is finished in the same color as the body and has a geode pattern that gives the design a modern touch. The Roma is not cheap, but it is competing with some of the most expensive and glamorous series-production cars on the market, such as the Bentley Continental GT, Aston Martin DBS, and Maserati GranTurismo. True high-end sophistication is often associated with the latest SUVs, but it is truly embodied in two-door cars with a long bonnet, such as the Ferrari Roma which exudes elegance and sophistication.

Because this supercar is the top performer in its class, thanks to its turbocharged V8 engine that is part of a family of engines that has won the International Engine of the Year award for four consecutive years. This specific version of the engine generates 620 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and is paired with a new 8-speed DCT gearbox that was first introduced on the SF90 Stradale.
