A new dating trend? How do you know which flag is a beige one?

A new dating trend? How do you know which flag is a beige one?

As Queen Elizabeth once said, “If I wore beige, nobody would know who I am,” we too believe in this mantra. And we're not the only ones, since TikTok took this saying so seriously that they diverted the color into a character feature. In brief, beige means dull, bland, or boring. While dating in the digital world, along with recognizing destructive or bad conduct, it seams that this is not enough to get yourself a good partner. The trend is rather a recommendation, and it's highly related to bland behavior. If you have an idea of eating pineapple on pizza, making references to mainstream shows, or using pictures of cats as a replacement for your personality, this might mean that you have some beige flags.

At this moment, courtship feels more like choosing a color palette for a new home. Red flags indicate symptoms of risk, green flags are good signs of peace, pink flags are incompatible love languages, white flags are problems you’re ready to fix and the new beige flags forged by creator Caitlin MacPhail, are indications that your potential partner lacks seasoning.

Deciphering the beige

Favorite recreation? Sleeping. Manner to steal my heart? Drinks. Competitive around? street fights. Looking for? a fuckbudy. Ordinary weekend? The Office and football. All the frustrated Tinder or Hinge users can relate when we say that every second profile sounds exactly like this.

Sure, maybe smearing someone’s entire character beige based just on a few of their boring attractions isn’t reasonable. But playing it safe by hiding behind a cliche is like speaking a lot, while not really saying anything.

While dating apps strive to deliver suitable details and try to create an easy platform to start a conversation by presenting some icebreakers, the process that individuals handle doesn’t always deliver an opinion of who they are. But the absence of effort does. Like coffee, beaches, and trekking? Are you certain this is your dating profile and not your mom's?

It's not easy today, especially when there's pressure to be different from anybody else. Because maybe you are an authentic person and you sincerly enjoy watching an old show like Friends. The thing is that thousands of other people enjoy Friends, and this can be so generic, like knowing your Hogwarts house for instance. The beige flags dating trend comes back to the need created by social media to be distinct from the crowd and to be truly unique. And if you play by social media's rules, if you're beige in a world that strives to be super authentic and different, you might not be as cool as you thought you were. But hey, it's also not a good idea to take everything so seriously and try hard to eliminate all the beige flags: after all, this could be the biggest of them all - the effort to get rid of any beige flag, forgetting about who you are and what you really want in the process.
